Well, the Yankees can expand their roster today, and it seem's they've started filling it up with Mendoza, Sierra, and Franklin. The rest are joining the team when the Yankees go back to NY. It's nice to have Sierra on the bench again. Once you got to maybe the 7 hole, lefty relievers could easily retire Cano, Lawton, and Martinez, all lefties. Now at least you can get a favorable matchup in there. But the one I'm most looking forward to is Mendoza. At the very least, he'll be able to pitch in the middle innings when Leiter or whoever only goes 5 innings. Felix Rodriguex is not the guy who should be doing that. However, if he does end up being 1998-2002 Mendoza instead of the 2003 Mendoza, who probably ended up winning the divison for the Yankees despite pitching for Boston, then the Yankees could have a guy who shares the enourmous workload that Sturtze has had this year.

Speaking of Boston, they were probably looking forward to September the most out of any team. They have some good pitchers in AAA like Delcarmen, DiNardo, Alvarez, and Papelbon that could plug some holes in their anemic bullpen and possibly in their starting rotations, should Schilling continue to falter and Wells's body realizes that he's 42 and out of shape.

Yanks finish up in Seattle today, looking to take 3 out of 4. Last night was very encouraging for Randy Johnson, who looks like he has fixed whatever mechanichal problem he claimed he had. This is the first time in a while that Johnson has strung together 2 consecutive starts like this (15 IP, ER) in a while, and it would be even more encouraging if he could continue that against Tampa Bay next Tuesday. Jaret Wright is going today, and it will be interesting to see how he's going to rebound from that awful 5th inning against the Royals. He just needs to give up fewer runs at this point. Going deep into games matter less in September, as there is much more bullpen help to go around.
